Your data, plainly.

We're a two-person start-up, not a data company. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 2026-10-16.

Who we are

Dalmatian Nation ("we", "us") runs the website https://dalmatiannation.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this site. You can contact us about anything in this policy at .

What we collect, and why

When you…We collectWhy (and our lawful basis)
Send us a message via the contact form Your name, email, message, and phone number if you give one To reply to you. Legitimate interest — you've asked us something and we need to answer.
Fill in our survey Your name, email, your answers, and optionally your mobile number To design our food and products around what Dalmatian owners actually need, and to offer you a launch discount. Legitimate interest and, for the discount, performance of a contract (we promised; you're holding us to it).
Tick a marketing box Your preference (email / phone / text) and when you gave it To send you news and offers by the channel you chose. Consent — which you can withdraw at any time.
Submit any form The date and time you sent it, and which version of our consent wording you saw To keep a record of what you agreed to. Legitimate interest — being able to show we respected your choices.

We don't collect anything else. We never ask for payment details on this site, and we never will by email.

Marketing: only if you say so

You'll only ever get marketing emails, calls or texts from us if you ticked the relevant box. Each box is separate and unticked by default. You can change your mind at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email, or by contacting us — and we'll stop straight away.

Being on our survey list means we'll contact you once to offer your launch discount, because that's what we promised. Beyond that, nothing unless you asked.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies unless you say yes on the cookie message. If you click "Yes, that's fine", we switch on Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_…, kept for up to two years) so we can count visits and see which pages are useful. We've turned off Google's advertising features and IP addresses are not stored. If you click "No thanks", nothing is loaded and nothing is set. Either way we remember your choice in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so we don't keep asking — use "cookie settings" in the footer to change your mind.

We use no advertising cookies and no other third-party tracking of any kind.

Where your data lives and who sees it

When you send a form, it goes through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, which emails it straight to our own mailbox. We don't keep a separate database. Only the two of us have access to that mailbox. We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone, ever.

The website itself is hosted by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the service running and secure.

Outside the UK. Web3Forms, GitHub and Google (which runs the mailbox our forms are delivered to, and the analytics if you opted in) are based outside the UK, so what you type into a form may be stored or processed in the United States or wherever those companies operate. These transfers rely on the UK's adequacy regulations for US companies certified under the Data Privacy Framework (the "UK–US data bridge") or, where that doesn't apply, on the standard data-protection clauses in the provider's terms — email us if you'd like the details. We only ever send these companies what the form contains, nothing else.

Who handles your data for us: Web3Forms (form delivery), GitHub Pages (website hosting), Google (email and, with your consent, analytics).

If we ever use a third-party service to send marketing emails, it will be a reputable provider bound by a data-processing agreement, and we'll update this page to say so.

How long we keep it

  • Contact messages: up to 2 years after our last reply, then deleted.
  • Survey responses: until we launch and have honoured the discount, plus 12 months — then we delete your contact details and keep only anonymous answers.
  • Marketing preferences: for as long as you're subscribed, plus a record that you unsubscribed so we don't contact you again.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you (a "subject access request");
  • correct anything that's wrong;
  • delete your data ("right to erasure");
  • stop using your data for marketing, or stop processing it altogether;
  • give you a copy of your data in a portable format.

Email and we'll deal with it within a month, usually much faster. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Security

The whole site runs over HTTPS, and forms are sent over an encrypted connection with built-in spam protection. There's no database or login on the website for anyone to break into. No system is perfect, but we've kept this one as simple and safe as we can.

Children

This site isn't aimed at under-16s and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us their details, tell us and we'll delete them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change affects what you've agreed to, we'll ask you again rather than assume.
